Violent man jailed

by isleofman.com 28th March 2007
A man who assaulted two police officers has been jailed for three months.

Paul John Taylor of Pulrose appeared for sentence after admitting the offences, as well as an additional offence of being disorderly on licensed premises in August.

Police went to Taylor's home last September after reports he had been seen trying to get ladders off a van. Police found him in his bedroom where he was holding a statuette and during a struggle, one officer sustained a bang on the head and another suffered damage to shoulder tendons.

Taylor’s advocate said he had a serious alcohol problem and had been on a five day drink binge. He had acted recklessly not but deliberately during the incident. He was very apologetic and had written to officers to apologise for his actions.

In sentencing, High Bailiff Michael Moyle told Taylor, he had a bad record of violence and anyone who assaulted police could expect a custodial sentence.
