Hope for engineering employees

It has emerged this evening that two potential investors are in talks with the DTI about a possible take-over of the former BA Connect engineering facility.

Around 200 staff at Ronaldsway are facing an uncertain future, after Flybe bought the regional airline business from BA earlier this month.

Some of those staff will be retained by Flybe - others may take voluntary redundancy - and a small number are moving on.

But for at least 100 others - it's an uncertain future.

At a briefing today, DTI minister David Cretney assured them his department is doing all it can to help.

And Mr Cretney says he's cautiously optimistic a new investor may yet be found - and some specialist engineering jobs saved in the Island:
