Healthy lifestyle initiative launched

The 'Healthy Futures' initiative, aimed at promoting the well-being of Manx schoolchildren, has been launched.

The departments of education, health and tourism and leisure have developed a way of promoting healthy lifestyle choices through the curriculum.

Schools will be expected to work on raising the quality of their provisions in the areas of emotional and physical development for children and young people.

Co-ordinating Advisor for 3-11 Education, Martin Barrow (pictured), says this will be done through lessons in personal, social and health education, sports and even lunchtime activities:
