Body of Douglas man found

by isleofman.com 22nd March 2007
A search lasting more than three months for a man missing from Douglas has ended with the discovery of his remains on the shores of south-west Scotland.

Police last night confirmed that remains washed ashore in Stranraer, Dumfries and Galloway more than a week ago, were those of Peter Merritt.

The 48-year old, who was known as 'Bob', was reported missing by his family in early December last year.

Extensive inquiries by police and appeals for help in tracing him drew a blank .

It's understood there are no suspicious circumstances and the Corner has been informed.
