Mountain Road closed after snow

The Mountain Road was closed to traffic this morning due to snow overnight.

The A18 route was to be closed from the junction of the Creg ny Baa to Ramsey hairpin until at least midday when conditions were due to be reassessed.

Roads around the Island were reported as poor in many places for a time yesterday evening and some bus services were cancelled last night.

Conditions improved across the Island this morning, but black ice was reported on several routes, particularly on the Douglas to Laxey Coast Road, around Baldrine and the Whitebridge in Onchan.

There were road traffic accidents at Sign Post Corner and by the Liverpool Arms this morning.

As usual the advice to motorists is to drive according to the conditions, slow down and take extra care.

Weather man Dave Hulse says there may be the occasional snow shower today, but conditions shouldn't be too bad:
