Armed police deployed in Douglas

by isleofman.com 17th March 2007
Armed police were put onto the streets of Upper Douglas earlier this morning.

It was in response to a concerned member of the public, and following the call out, a 42 year old man was arrested and a replica firearm siezed.

The operation was between 5-30 and 7-30 this morning in the Derby Square area.

The Police have applauded the action of "a vigilant member of the public" and described it as "a successful deployment".

They are telling members of the public to think carefully before having any type of replica firearm in public view.

Enquiries into the incident are on going.
