Aviation security

by isleofman.com 16th March 2007
The team of aviation security officers at Ronaldsway Airport have been sworn-in after completing an intensive new training course.

The team provides full security cover and police presence at the Airport 24 hours a day, all year round, with three officers on duty during opening hours.

Thirteen officers, some of whom have more than 30 years of experience, completed the course.

Whilst on airport property, all ASOs have the same authority and powers as a regular police officer.

Their duties can include anything from authorising visitors to the Airport and policing any road traffic offences, to managing disruptive passengers.

Airport Director designate Ann Reynolds (pictured) said the officers provide first class policing for this major point of entry to the Island.
