Pension shortfalls revealed

by isleofman.com 14th March 2007
Manx Radio has been asked to provide up to ?100,000 per year in extra pension contributions.

The news comes at the same time as the Water Authority and the Manx Electricity Authority were asked for substantial increases in employer contributions amounting to around ?450,000 and one million pounds respectively.

Both authorities have announced they will fund the rise of 9.8% per annum without asking for higher contributions from their employees, or passing the increase on to their customers with higher charges.

However Chairman of Manx Radio, David North, says that isn't an option for Radio Manx Ltd: (First audio clip)

Speaking on Mandate this morning, Mr North says he finds it hard to believe Treasury DIDN'T know about the pensions shortfall before the subvention Tynwald debate in January of this year: (Second audio clip)
