Peter Carle prosecuting said the defendant had been out drinking with friends on the evening of June 23rd. In the early hours of the next day he attended a party at a house in Pulrose where he punched Mr Jones who sustained a fractured cheek and a nose injury which required stitches.

Jones ran out of the house after being punched. He was followed by Kelsh and another man and was punched again several times. Kelsh also attended hospital for a fracture of his hands sustained after he punched a wall. His advocate Darren Talbot said the defendant had a history of violence and was still only 17. He had problems with anger management and drink.

Deemster Doyle said the message had to go out that people who got involved in violence would lose their liberty, in some cases for a long time.
