New homes for Jurby

by isleofman.com 12th March 2007
More than 100 new homes are due to be built in Jurby over the next few years.

The government is selling building plots for a range of different types of homes - including 'eco housing' and a number of first-time buyer properties.

There will also be potential for people to build their own homes at a realistic cost.

The scheme is part of the government's aim of making Jurby a sustainable village for the long-term.
The development will offer plots for self-builders, small development companies, low cost and so-called 'eco' homes.

The Department of Local Government and the Environment is urging those who build there to think 'sustainably' as they design and construct their homes.

And they will be encouraged to source building supplies and services from Jurby companies,

Department member Juan Watterson says Jurby has a proud past as a WW2 community of young men and women who worked together to secure our freedom.

And he says they will foster an environment where a new generation can create a future for themselves and their families through their own efforts.

DOLGE believes the building plots will offer attractive options for both local people and residents from elsewhere in the Island who want to build homes at a reasonable cost.
