Kerbside collection trial cost ?25,000

A member of Douglas Town Council says they would like to reintroduce kerbside collection of household waste, if it could be made more cost-effective.

Councillor Richie McNicholl said a trial conducted recently in Governor's Hill cost the Corporation around ?25,000.

North Douglas MHK John Houghton will ask DOLGE Minister John Shimmin if he'll direct Douglas Corporation to recommence the scheme and extend it to other areas of the town.

But Councillor McNicholl says that decision should be down to the Corporation alone:
