Sky TV scam

Island residents are once again being urged to use caution and common sense if they're "cold called" by companies.

The Office of Fair Trading says it's received a lot of complaints from people who've been contacted by a firm offering to renew their Sky TV insurance over the phone.

Individuals have been asked to disclose their bank card details immediately so their premium can be renewed at a special rate.

Chief Inspector of Trading Standards, John Peet, says a number of steps should always be taken when dealing with this type of call:
