Cannan accuses Tynwald President

by isleofman.com 7th March 2007
The man who is pressing for a 32 member elected House of Keys is accusing President of Tynwald, Noel Cringle, of giving his views on inappropriate matters.

Mr Cringle said on Manx Radio this week that, after four unsuccessful attempts to fill a vacant seat on the Legislative Council, MHKs should elect somebody at their next sitting.

But Michael MHK David Cannan says, as the holder of "a totally non-political position", the President shouldn't express such opinions.

And he is effectively accusing him of speaking out of turn:

The Constitution Bill, in the name of David Cannan, will be published on Friday, and is down for first reading in the House of Keys next week.
