Hunger strike over

An MHK has welcomed a constituent’s decision to end her hunger strike.

Kathryn Nelson carried out the protest for 38 days at her home in Farmhill after being named in connection with money-laundering allegations.

Ms Nelson, a 57 year old Diplomatic Liaison Officer, was arrested after the Northern Bank Robbery two years ago - but never charged.

She demanded an apology and compensation from the Irish government but on Monday ended her protest.
