'Penny pinching policing' not wanted - MHK

North Douglas MHK John Houghton (pictured, left) says he doesn’t want to see penny-pinching policing introduced in the Isle of Man.

He says the Department of Home Affairs is considering whether to introduce Community Service Officers in the wake of the UK government announcement it would do so.

In the House of Keys today, he’ll ask Home Affairs Minister Martyn Quayle (pictured, right) if there are plans to bring in such a scheme.

CSOs are paid civilians who would go out on patrol but have no legal powers, as Mr Houghton explains:
