Armed police called to Willaston

A police firearms team was called to deal with a man threatening self harm in Douglas this afternoon.

Police went to a property in Snaefell Road, Willaston at around 3.20pm.

The situation was brought to a peaceful conclusion at around 4.30pm when a 50 year old male was detained without incident.

Acting Inspector Steve Goldsmith has reassured the local community that no member of the general public was in danger at any time and the firearms team was brought in as a precautionary measure.
