SID supports one way Mountain

The motoring campaign group, Safer Island Driving, is backing proposals to make the Mountain Road one way during this year's TT festival.

There is to be major public consultation on the issue next month.

Opponents of the plan say it would make it difficult to get marshals, medical staff and spectators into position around the course, and be hugely inconvenient to people living in the north.

But many, including director of SID James Osborne, think safety considerations are more important.

He says it would be a sensible move, and should not be viewed as making allowances for irresponsible bikers:
