Alcohol advice for parents

by isleofman.com 27th February 2007
A course on 'drug proofing' children will be held on the Island this evening.

It has been organised by Carolyn Shipstone (pictured) from Care in the Family and follows shock figures from the Department of Home Affairs which reveal that around a third of accident and emergency admissions to Nobles Hospital by under sixteens are alcohol related.

It is believed that children as young as twelve have problems with alcohol.

Carolyn says parents should be thinking what they can do to support their children, and the course, run in conjunction with the drug and alcohol liaison officer, will help with this

The course begins tonight at the hall at Victoria Road Primary School in Castletown. If you want more information you can ring Carolyn on 491043.
