Rate rise in Castletown

by isleofman.com 22nd February 2007
Castletown rates are to rise by 6.5% from April 1st.

The town commissioners have announced an increase of 17 pence to 278 pence in the pound for the new financial year.

Included is an allowance of 5p for possible new rate funded schemes including the upgrading of existing CCTV and improved works depot facilities.

Rising costs is cited as one of the main reasons for the increase.

The commissioners are also embarking on further improvements to amenity areas, begun last year, and street lighting.
