Fire crew's praise

by isleofman.com 19th February 2007
Fire crews are praising a member of the public's quick-thinking.

It’s after a woman contacted the emergency services after hearing a neighbour's fire alarm.

Fire fighters were called to a property in Lheannag Park in Douglas the early hours of Saturday morning.

Crews found a cigarette discarded in a box of tissues had started the kitchen fire and, while damage was minimal, ambulance personnel had to administer oxygen to a female resident.

The fire service is keen to remind the public to fit smoke alarms and to ensure cigarettes are properly extinguished.
