Norwegian concert today

The Island will be treated to a taste of Norway today (Sunday) as part of a musical celebration of the life of composer Edvard Grieg.

Students from the Trondheim School of Music and Culture will join the Manx Youth Orchestra and the Cheetham School of Music in a concert at the Villa Marina.

The event marks the hundredth anniversary of Grieg’s death and the musicians will perform parts of Peer Gynt as well as Norwegian folk songs.

Brynjar Sonstad of the Trondheim school says he’s looking forward (audio file attached):
