Four nominations for Legislative Council

Four candidates will contest the vacant seat on the Legislative Council later this month.

Nominations closed at five o’clock this evening (Friday) and the candidates announced were Peel commissioner John Lightfoot, who polled eight votes in Tuesday’s second ballot.

Former chairman of Laxey Commissioners, David Owens; Ramsey commissioner Richard Radcliffe and former Ramsey MHK and MLC, Leaonrd Singer, who was in the first ballot, but did not contest the second.

The election will take place on February the 27th and a candidate requires 13 votes to be successful.
