DoT offers to buy White Hoe properties

by isleofman.com 16th February 2007
The Department of Transport has offered to buy the houses affected by vibrations caused by the White Hoe pumping station.

Officials from the DOT, including Minister David Anderson (pictured), and the Department of Local Government and the Environment, met residents of Ivy and White Hoe Cottages last night (Thursday) to discuss the offer, which came about after an independent report into the problem.

After conducting a range of tests, specialists Bureau Veritas found there was no practicable means to reduce the noise level in Ivy Cottages, although there were options to reduce the noise in White Hoe Cottages.

Minister Anderson says the houses would be independently valued and legal fees would be covered.

He's hopeful his Tynwald colleagues will approve the spending (audio file attached)
