Boundary Review Committee on hold?

by isleofman.com 16th February 2007
Research into the size and number of House of Keys constituencies could be put on hold if a motion is passed in next week's Tynwald sitting.

Michael MHK David Cannan will ask the Council of Ministers to suspend the Boundary Review Committee's work until the outcome of the Constitution Bill is known.

The committee is due to report to Tynwald later this year on re-drawing some constituency boundaries to reflect changes in population around the Island.

Public opinion is currently being sought on issues such as constituency size, if voter numbers should determine that size and whether all should have the same number of MHKs.

However, this would also be delayed if Mr Cannan's bill is successful next week.
