Coroner to make statement

by isleofman.com 16th February 2007
The Coroner of Inquests is to make a public statement this morning (Friday) in relation to the dangers families could face when on holiday in foreign countries.

It follows the death, last April, of 5 year-old Joseph Panter of Anagh Coar, who drowned in a swimming pool at a resort in Egypt.

The inquiry into the tragedy heard it took paramedics over half an hour to respond to the emergency call because it was thought to be a hoax.

When an ambulance did arrive it wasn’t carrying vital life saving equipment.

Witness statements said the pool at the hotel didn’t have a lifeguard.
