A man who possessed indecent images of children has been jailed by Deemster Doyle for six months.

25 year old Christopher Robert Hitchin, from Tidworth in Hampshire, admitted twelve offences.

Hitchin was arrested at his home in Onchan on June 28th last year after police attended with a search warrant.

Peter Carle, prosecuting, said Hitchin was fully co-operative and showed police two computers, a separate computer hard drive and recorded CDs.

During his interview Hitchin told police he needed help for his problem to pornography.

Mr Carle said that over three thousand indecent photographs were found, and 31 moving images. Hitchin said he downloaded from the internet.

His advocate Jason Stanley said the defendant immediately accepted his guilt and that he needed help. He was hoping to go on a three year programme for his problems. He was very sorry and wished to apologise to everyone, including the police.

Deemster Doyle said such offences were abhorrent to the public. He placed Hitchin on the sexual offenders register for five years and extended his licence period for four years
