Crowe in as MLC

by isleofman.com 13th February 2007
Alan Crowe has been elected to the Legislative Council

In a vote in the House of Keys this morning (Tues) he received 15 votes, two more than the 13 required.

Charles Cain received 6 votes, the same as at a previous election last month, and John Lightfoot received 8 votes. There were two spoilt papers.

This means the second position in the Council remains vacant and a third election will have to be held. Nominations have to be in by 5pm this Friday (16th) and the election will be held in the House of Keys on the 27th of February.

Mr Crowe will not know how long his term of office will be until the second position is filled, as the candidate with the higher number of votes will serve the longer term.
