Ballacain sold

by isleofman.com 12th February 2007
A property at the centre of a high profile trial has been sold.

Former Chief Minister Richard Corkill and his wife Julie (pictured) have confirmed the sale of Ballacain.

Last year, Mrs Corkill was found guilty of three charges of false accounting and one of obtaining ?47,000 pounds in tourism grants by deception.

She is to appeal against her conviction.

Following the sale, the Corkills say they have now paid back the funding, with interest, to the Isle of Man Government.

Under the terms of the tourism accommodation development scheme, money has to be returned if the holiday home is sold on within five years.
