School Watch to benefit community

The police officer behind a new crime reduction scheme is hopeful the community will really benefit from the extra vigilance.

School Watch is the brainchild of Constable Tony Lawler (pictured) from the Eastern Policing Team.

It involves pupils delivering postcards to homes in Onchan, asking residents to keep their eyes and ears open and report anything suspicious to police.

There are also plans to educate children about criminal responsibility, types of crime and having respect for their environment.

PC Lawler says it also teaches them that crime doesn't pay (audio file attached):
