Precautions ahead of snow

by isleofman.com 7th February 2007
The Met Office is warning some severe winter weather is on the way ...

Temperatures will fall to freezing overnight, bringing snow by tomorrow morning - only a few centimetres in low lying areas, but more on higher ground.

Gale force south-east winds could whip-up blizzards - and cause snow drifts.

The Department of Transport is sending its bulk gritters to salt the Island's roads from 4.30 tomorrow morning. And snow ploughs are also on stand-by for call-out when and where needed.

But it may be a one-day wonder - forecasters say the snow will turn into sleet by the end of tomorrow and die out by the evening.
