River pollution incident

A pollution incident in the Crogga River, at Port Soderick, is under investigation.

On Sunday the Department of Environment was made aware that a large quantity of silt had gone into the waterway and since then discussions have been continuing with those thought to be responsible.

The department is making no further comment for legal reasons, but the lobby group, the Manx Rivers Improvement Association, has also been examining the scene.

Spokesman Geoff Walmsley, says silt can cause a lot of damage:
