Disability Act not fully effective yet

The Chief Minister says he's always believed the Disability Discrimination Act would be brought in to force over several years.

Tony Brown says the act, which passed through legislature last year, received Royal Assent in October 2006, but requires point of day orders and extensive regulations in order to become fully effective.

Mr Brown was responding to a question from Onchan MHK Peter Karran, who wanted to know when the act would be fully implemented.

He pointed out that in using a gradual introduction, the Island would be acting in a similar fashion to England and Wales:
