Quarry fire

by isleofman.com 2nd February 2007
A quantity of quarry plant machinery was substantially damaged in a fire yesterday (Thurs).

The machinery, which is used for sorting quarry material, burst into flames on being started up.

The fire was fuelled by 135 litres of diesel used to fuel the power plant.

Fire crews from Port Erin and Castletown experienced difficulty in extinguishing the blaze due to the construction of the machine, heavy smoke, and the diesel which leaked from the tank.

Crews needed half an hour to put out the blaze.
