Farming proposals

It is thought that removing the link between payment and production could be the way forward for Manx agriculture, according to DAFF Minister Phil Gawne (pictured, left).

The concept could give farmers more freedom to make decisions about their own businesses, and the opportunity for increased profitability.

President of the Manx National Farmers Union, Howard Quayle (pictured, right), says the move would herald a change of emphasis for farmers, and those wishing to go into the industry:
