Minister against raised leaving age

Raising the school leaving age to 18 in the Isle of Man would benefit no one according to Education Minister, Anne Craine.

The United Kingdom's Chancellor of the Exchequer, Gordon Brown, supports such a move which he says would make the education system world class.

He says it's also needed in order to tackle a growing skills crisis.

But Mrs Craine says the Island doesn't have the same issues to deal with, and sees little value in making children stay on at school when they don't want to:
