Help for the homeless

by isleofman.com 1st February 2007
It's hoped a new computer programme will give authorities in the Isle of Man the information they need to help the homeless.

It's estimated that at least 40 people are either sleeping rough or so called 'sofa-surfing'.

However it's thought there could be many others who haven't been identified.

Now a working group is focusing on how to make sure everyone experiencing housing problems receives the support that's available.

The computer programme would allow agencies on the Island to exchange details, so duplication and omissions could be avoided.

Public Health Specialist with the D.H.S.S, Loudon Brown, says it's a very important project.
