Safety camera 'highly successful'

The Director of Highways says the safety camera at Ballaugh has been "highly successful".

Bruce Hannay was speaking after the controversial ?10,000 device was a targeted in an arson attack for the second time, causing substantial damage.

The Department of Transport has made it clear it will be restored to working order .

Mr Hannay (pictured) says the vandalism was the action of a "small minority", and the camera was proving to be highly effective at improving road safety in the area:
