Sentence on a 21 year old man has been adjourned by the High Bailiff for reports.

Graham Robert Peter Anstey of Furman Close, Onchan, admitted taking the vehicle without consent, driving whilst disqualified, and driving without insurance.

Beth Espey reports:

(Text of attached audio)
Inspector Helen Mason, prosecuting, said the defendant took a van from outside the house in Tramman Close, Anagh Coar at around 8am on January 14th. He'd been attending a party at the House and the van was reported stolen at 10.10am.

It was found in Barruse Road and police were informed that the defendant was at accident and emergency at Nobles Hospital for treatment to a hand injury.

Anstey admitted he took the van with another man and he drove to Barruse where the van crashed and overturned. They put it back on its wheels before Anstey went to hospital to receive treatment for his injuries.

Anstey, who was banned last December for a period of twelve months, was bailed until February 27th with a warning that custody was a possibility.
