Protection for speed camera

The Department of Transport will be looking at ways of guarding the Ballaugh safety camera from vandals.

The news comes after arsonists struck for the second time, severely damaging the ?10,000 unit.

Police are still hunting those responsible and say the incident could have been extremely serious if the fire had spread to nearby homes and businesses.

Transport Minister David Anderson (pictured, right) has vowed to replace the equipment, but says the DoT is looking at ways of making it impervious to vandalism:
