Civil Service changes 'a benefit to Island'

The Chief Minister says potential changes to the Civil Service Commission will benefit the Isle of Man as a whole.

Tony Brown's Civil Service Amendment Bill is likely to come forward for a second reading at the next House of Keys sitting.

If passed, the bill would alter the Commission's structure, with two members of Tynwald as chairman and vice chairman, and three lay members who'd be neither MHKs, MLCs nor civil servants.

The Commission would also be answerable to the Chief Minister.

Mr Brown says the proposals are by no means radical:
