Seats on Council still vacant

by isleofman.com 30th January 2007
There are still two vacant seats on the Legislative Council, after members of the House of Keys members failed to elect any of the five candidates this morning.

In order to be successful the potential MLC would have needed 13 votes.

Charles Cain received six votes, Alan Crowe 10, Peter Kelly and Leonard Singer five, and John Lightfoot three.

There were three spoilt papers.

Speaker of the House of Keys Steve Rodan (pictured) called fro fresh nominations, which must be in by 5pm this Friday.

The next election will take place in the House of Keys chamber on February 13.
