No smells at Douglas Golf Club

Fears over smell and health implications of using treated sewage pellets on Douglas golf course are unfounded, according to IRIS Operation Manager Bob Wright.

A proposal to use pellets from the Meary Veg sewage plant (pictured) was discussed by councillors, but worries were raised about the potential for smell.

However, Mr Wright says the pellets are safe and harmless and have been dried out at high temperature, killing any bacteria.

He says they’re suitable for use as fertiliser after the treatment process:
