A woman who appeared for sentence after admitting seven offences of making false statements to obtain social security benefits has been given a sixty day prison sentence suspended for two years by the High Bailiff.
Sharon Crellin of Orry Place, Castletown, made claims for benefits but failed to declare her partner was working.

The offences were committed between January 2005 and July 2006, and the DHSS received information that her partner was working and was self- employed.
He was seen leaving the premises on several occasions by inspectors from the department.
The defendant's advocate said Crellin had suffered serious health problems. Her partner was not working for a time and she just wanted to support her family. The money had not been spent on luxury items - at the time she was in dire financial straights.
Rachel Braidwood, prosecuting, said the overpayment was now ?7,705.
Mr Moyle said the fraud had gone on for some time.
