by isleofman.com 23rd January 2007
Tribute has been paid to one of the founder members of the Service Players.

Vera Craine of Ballasalla set up the amateur dramatic group along with Olga Cowell and well-known TV actor, the late Jon Pertwee, at the start of World War Two.

She passed away last week at the age of 94.

Her long-time friend, actress Eva Kane said she retained a keen interest in the Service Players until her death.

Vera Craine's funeral will be held at Arbory Street Methodist Church (pictured) in Castletown this afternoon (Tues) at a quarter to two, followed by cremation at Douglas Borough Crematorium.
