Pulrose Professor honoured with CBE

When two Isle of Man residents, West Douglas MHK Geoff Corkish and the former Head of the Met Office, Brian Rae, were awarded MBEs a few weeks ago, it seems the honour bestowed on another Manxman was overlooked.

Professor Michael Parkinson, a former pupil at Pulrose Infant, Desmense Road and Douglas High Schools was among those recognised in the Queen's New Year Honours list with a CBE.

Professor Parkinson is Director of the European Insitute for Urban Affars at Liverpool John Moore’s University. He’s received the accolade for his work advising the UK government, the European Commission and the OECD on urban regeneration.

The Professor, whose late father was Mayor of Douglas and whose sister lives in the town, is delighted:
