Six to contest LegCo election

by isleofman.com 19th January 2007
Six people will contest the two vacant seats on the Legislative Council in an election in the House of Keys on January 30.

They are former Ramsey MHK Charles Cain; former MHK and MLC Alan Crowe; recently retired South Douglas MHK Adrian Duggan; architectural historian Peter Kelly; Peel Commissioner, John Lightfoot; and Leonard Singer, who resigned from the Council before missing out on a seat in Ramsey in the recent general election.

The other Legislative Council seat was vacated by the retirement of former Chief Minister, Donald Gelling.

Candidates will need at least thirteen votes to secure one of the positions.
