Storms highlight food costs

With severe weather disrupting transport to and from the Island once again today, the Manx National Farmer’s Union has called for the Island to become more self-sufficient.

The MNFU says it's vital the Island produces more to increase food security, especially as they believe extreme weather brought on by climate change is now a very real threat.

Chief Minister Tony Brown acknowledged the effects of climate change in Tynwald yesterday, but placed the onus on individuals to address the situation.

MNFU Secretary, Ffinlo Costain, says the Manx government needs to have input:
