Julie Corkill to appeal

by isleofman.com 18th January 2007
An appeal by Julie Corkill, wife of former Chief Minister, Richard Corkill, against her convictions for three charges of false accounting and one of obtaining money by deception, will be heard in March.

A date of March the 26th has been allocated.

The charges relate to grants paid by government towards development of holiday accommodation at the Corkill's Onchan home, Ballacain.

She was convicted in October following a high profile trial and, after the sentencing, Mr Corkill described the guilty verdicts against his wife as a 'devastating miscarriage of justice' and confirmed the family had decided to appeal.
