Storm watch

by isleofman.com 17th January 2007
The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning for tonight and tomorrow. [Thursday]

Heavy and persistent rain is expected overnight which could lead to the risk of some flooding in places.

Tomorrow winds are likely to reach storm force by late morning, with gusts of between 70 and 80 miles an hour expected.

Over high ground the wind speed could reach 90 miles-an-hour, so damage to trees and buildings is likely.

Driving conditions could become hazardous for a while, especially over the mountain road and particularly for high-sided vehicles.

There's also a risk that buses, planes and ferries may suffer some disruption for a while during the day as well.
