Villa to host first youth event

by isleofman.com 15th January 2007
Young people in the Isle of Man are set to influence the policies and initiatives that affect them.

The Youth Service is aiming to establish forums in the north, south, east and west of the Island for groups of around 15 youngsters.

The idea is they will meet three times a year to discuss various issues, with the outcomes reported back to the relevant authorities.

The process will begin with a series of road shows open to anyone over the age of 13.

The first will be held this evening at the Villa Marina in Douglas.

Senior Youth Worker, Jen Casson, says the subject matter tonight is likely to provoke some lively discussion (audio file attached):

The road show schedule is: Monday January 15, Villa Marina, Douglas; Thursday, January 18, St Catherine's Church, Port Erin; Monday January 22, Town Hall, Ramsey; and Wednesday January 24, Centenary Hall, Peel.

The sessions are all between 7.30pm and 9pm and everybody is welcome to go along.
